Polished

The majority of the composite worktops we produce, have a polished finish, which offers a high gloss. An extra advantage of this surface is, that the structure of polished granite already is very closed and therefore less sensitive to the penetration of dirt and moisture.

Honed / Satin / Flamed

A selection of our composite assortment is also available with a honed surface (matt and flat), a satin surface (matt and slightly rough), or a flamed surface (matt and rough). These surfaces are more open in structure, which makes it easier for dirt and moisture to penetrate into the material. In the first couple of months especially such materials are sensitive to staining. After some time, this will decrease and the colour of the material will also darken a little.

Characteristics per surface

Although the characteristics may vary per type, in general the different surfaces can be compared as follows:

Scratch-resistance

Composite polished
Composite honed
Composite satin
Composite flamed

Heat-resistance*

Composite polished
Composite honed
Composite satin
Composite flamed

*) You mainly need to be careful with very hot pans on the cold worktop (themo-shock).

Stain-resistance**

Composite polished
Composite honed
Composite satin
Composite flamed

**) On dark and even colours, stains will show more easy than on light or structured colours.
